Connect your iPhone to a power source. Do this to ensure that you have enough battery power throughout the update.

Go to Settings → General → Software Update. When you navigate to Software Update, you should see available software updates on your screen.

Tap the "Learn More" section to read about the changes in the software update.
If you're unsure of whether you might like the update, or you're just
curious about what the software update does, click on the "Learn More"

After you've decoded the changes, tap Download. You will now be asked to agree to Apple’s terms and conditions.

Tap the Agree button to begin downloading the update. Wait until the download has finished, keeping the iPhone connected to its power source for the duration of the update.

After it's completed downloading, you'll receive an notification. You'll
then be prompted to Install the device.

Tap the Install button after the update has downloaded. After installation, you iPhone will restart and your brand new iOS will take over.

Make sure the latest version of iTunes is current on your computer. This method only works if you're running the most recent version of iTunes on your computer.

Plug your iPhone to your computer using the USB connector. Wait for iTunes to open automatically and for iTunes to read your device.

Select your iPhone under Devices in iTunes.

Locate and click on the "Check for Update" box in the summary pane. The "Check for Update" box should be right next to the "Restore my iPhone" box.

If an update is available, click "Download and Update."
This will automatically update your phone to the latest version of iOS.
